can't get my armpits dry

Hey guys, I've been having a problem with sweaty armpits for about a year now and I'm finally getting fed up and ready to do something about it. I'm about to schedule a doctor's appointment, but I wanted to run it by you all first.

If I get out of the shower and towel dry under my arms, I notice they start to get moist again after a few minutes, regardless of the temperature or my level of physical activity. From my experience, they don't stay dry whether I use a "gentle" natural deodorant or an aluminum-based anti-perspirant. I have even tried using certain-dri at night and I still have the problem the next morning.

This leads me to believe it has to do with something other than deodorant. Perhaps it's the soap I use when I wash or the method of washing. Or maybe it's something else? Has anyone else had a similar problem and found a solution? Are they irritated? Are they dried out?

Yours,
Jio

The doc is just going to Rx an anti-persperant with a high concentration of some aluminum-based compound that you could likely find online for a lot less.

Have you tried Mitchum brand anti-persperant? And shaving or nairing your underarms is worth it. Less of the gunk on your hair, and more on your skin.

Guys, here's the worst part.

1. I do shave my armpits
2. I've tried Tom of Maine, in fact, I'm using that now
3. I've tried Mitchum's dry stick and I think it just made things worse.

Here's an interesting piece of information: it's almost night now, and my armpits are completely dry. I'm convinced they get drier the further I get from the shower. Could something be happening in the cleaning process that is making me sweat more? Or is it just cooler now? Maybe my body is extremely sensitive to heat or something.

There are indeed surgical procedures, which are, far as I know, minimally invasive endoscopy surgery.

They go in there (somewhere, the doctor will answer that), and snip the sympathetic nerve to that sweat gland. It's called a sympathectomy, and for those that it works for it really works, but some people develop sympathetic sweating (its that damned sympathetic nervous system) and start compensating by sweating twice as much other places.

Other than surgery there's prescription antiperspirants of various kinds, like aluminums, alums, and zincs. There's also sweat reduction medications, various non-surgical procedures involving lasers and what not.

Try letting your body air dry for a bit, leave enough time for you to walk around wearing nothing after towelling off so you dry off. I find I can never get fully dry in the bathroom, although it's my face that sweats more.

Finish your shower on cold water, perhaps?

I had the same thought and I'm going to try that tomorrow.

Thanks for all the different tips everyone, I've read them all, and I'm going to try the cold wash thing first and then if that doesn't work try different drying techniques. Next on my list is to find a different soap, maybe one that doesn't leave as much residue.

Good point. When I have really hot showers, I sometimes sweat afterwards - could be just the steam condensing though.

I've had the same problem for years now. I hear that botox injections into the armpit work very well.

You don't have to SHAVE the pits, just trim them, then go to the closest Health Food Store and get one of those CLEAR DEODORANT ROCKS to use in place of the current one you have.

I've been using the ROCK for about 9 years and it's the best so far. No Staining, no wetness, and no smell either..

G' Luck!

Ha, I was just going to ask about opinions regarding the pitstick crystal. Anybody else here try it, and can recommend it?
