The Canali shoes I've seen in Hong Kong are all glue-welted....and are all at least $350-400 USD. Although I believe I've heard that there are some goodyear-welted Canalis out there?...

Some of them do look really good though...I saw a pair of short ankle- Chelsea type boots there which were very good looking. Then I took a closer look and saw glue.

Did you mean they were welted and still used glue?

Canalis I saw in US were all well made. I own Goodyear welted, Blake stitched and some unusual Italian reverse stitch Canalis. I have never seen non-welted/stitched ones for sale in US. I may have seen on Ebay some hideous monstrocities made specifically for South American market under license. You should easily be able to tell them apart from the real deal.

Forgetting about the South American crap on eBay that shouldn't be called Canali, I have never seen glued on Canali shoes in North America. There are different levels of quality with blake-stitched shoes retailing for $400-$600 and goodyear welted ones for $800+. They are apparently made by Campanile and all the ones I've seen were very well made. Some styles are a bit out there but if you find one you like, they are very good shoes. I'd rank the goodyear ones with Mantellassi's top line and Tramezza among the best italian shoes below Lattanzi and Kiton.
