Canadians: Shipping stuff with USPS Global Express Guaranteed Service?

Has anyone ever used the USPS Global Express Guaranteed service to bring something into Canada? It guarantees 1-3 days, does that mean it will make it through customs in that time? I know USPS partners with FedEx for that service. Will I be charged brokerage fees? If anyone has ever dealt with this, please let me know. I'm kinda pissed about all my packages taking 2x as long as quoted to arrive because they spend a week in customs.

You won't be charged brokerage. UPS is the only one that rapes you on brokerage. I don't know their service levels offhand, but i've used usps a lot and, it should clear customs in that time. Packages tend to arrive at customs same-day. USPS is my preferred shipping method when ordering from the states when I have the choice. Fedex is second.

So if USPS outsources this guarnteed service to Fedex or Purolator, still no brokerage fees? Or just less than the extortionate UPS fees?

I don't ever recall paying brokerage fees for fedex or usps. Fedex air or whatever it's called has all the fees included directly in the price (and it's lower than UPS ground+brokerage unless it's something really big and heavy).That's all I can really say on the matter.

If you get charged customs (where they add on GST & PST), you'll be charged a $5 handling fee USPS priority or $8 with USPS express. think of the handling fees as brokerage fees.
I don't believe you'll be charged any other fees. The brokerage fees you refer to with UPS/Fedex are the fees they charge for clearing your package through customs. If you're shipping USPS, their 'fee' for this is the aforementioned $5/$8. nothing more, nothing less.

Whatever is sent to another country by USPS there are no fees. Don't know about Fedex but UPS does.

I hate the USPS tracking system though.

do you really want it that quickly that bad? last time i inquired about express guaranteed shipping from US to CAN they quoted me $75 for a shirt sized package

You won't get charge brokerage fees, like someone said earlier here, UPS is the one you really have to worry about.

FWIW FedEx and UPS will always charge brokerage for ground shipments, but they shouldn't for air.

Recently shipped with DHL. According to the tracking it spent less than one hour in customs. There was no fees (with the exception of GST, of course).

Yes. I'm forking over a little more than that for a pair of Martegani shoes in Radica Calf (John Lobb Museum Calf). I'm just really pissed at having to wait 2 weeks for "express" packages. I'm really that impatient on this purchase. I may never use it again, but I want to at least try it once to see how fast I get it. I will only have a case of "buyers remorse" if it arrives, and it doesn't fit forcing me to ship it back.
