Hmm, all this time I though the safety dance was from Australia.

Also, the Hip have not had much exposure outside of Canada? If you Americans have not listened to them, grab a couple songs off of itunes.

You guys might be thinking of Men at Work.

The Hip is a very good band. I've seen them over a period of 20 some years now. They played in a teeny tiny venue, where I currently live, and it was great. One of my favs by them is "Ahead By A Century."

If you liked alt/indie, I think you shoud listen to The Tea Party. I used to see them in small bars when they started, particularly The Coach and Horses. Wonder if that place even exists still?

Platinum Blonde. I only bring them up because I read that band member Kenny MacLean passed away recently. RIP. Their music though was not my cup of tea.
