OK so I've been involved in higher end menswear for quite a while, and now that I'm not in the industry anymore I gotta say (as i'm looking for one) -it's almost impossible to find a great bespoke tailor in western canada.

Any ideas? Any members know of a great tailor?

I presume you mean Toronto, or you're a little out of luck.

Having extensively tried tailors in Toronto downtown and some adjoining areas (like Chinatown, not a terribly nice place but some good stores), I'd say the only one I'd trust are Brooks Brothers personal tailoring and Zegna "su misura" stuff at Harry Rosen. Sorry if this is a boring answer, but I'd stick with someone who I know will give me good quality instead of wasting time/money on esoteric stuff.

You presumed wrong. Toronto is Central Canada, not western Canada. Read the OP's location. It says Alberta.

Yup, unfortunately I'm out in western Canada. Brooks/Rosen are ok.... I worked at a competitor for quite a while, and the majority of what I wear is Armani Collezioni MTM, but I'm looking for an individual who is capable in creating a high quality canvassed garment. I'm not overly impressed with what Rosen and Brooks have to offer to be honest. It's tough for us Canadians!

Looks like I have to plan another "business" trip to Italy...

I'm preparing to do an experiment with a tailor in Calgary. I will post once I have results.

Our time zone is Central time, not eastern..unless you live in Scarborough.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ontario Toronto is in eastern CENTRAL Canada and has always been. We are under the CENTRAL time zone and have been since Time Zones existed. The OP asked for service in WESTERN Canada, which clearly excludes Toronto. He is located in Alberta, which is in WESTERN Canada. And so far, no one has answered the OP's original question except unjung who will update the OP on his upcoming mission in Calgary.

If only capitalization made you more right. Unfortunately it just makes you look more foolish when you are wrong.

I have used a tailor here mentioned already in Style Forum. Giovanni on 17th ave and 37st sw. He just did a jacket for me. Personally, I like the work he does however, I find him a little pricey. He did a waist suppression and shortened the sleeves about an inch. This cost me $130. However, not unreasonable for a good tailor. I know he does bespoke and he displays it. He said he charges around $1400 (if I recall correctly). Might we worth a shot but I haven't taken the plunge.

Now option 2 in Calgary. Harry Rosen is opening a new store in the fall I believe. They are introducing some more MTM but according to an SA I spoke to at length, also a traditional bespoke with an in house tailor. We didn't discuss cost, but this might be worth checking into given the limited options here.
