can this tie be saved?

I came across this UK made Liberty of London tie in a friend's attic this afternon, and it caught my eye. I can't fathom in what context I'd wear it, and its definatly not "my style", but I gotta say I like it.


However, it looks like its been hanging tied for a decade or so, as you can see in this second pic, and I fear structural damage on the inside. Is there anything that can be done for this?

How about some gentle ironing under a towel and not let the hot-plate touch the tie?

I have been able to save some ties in similar condition by using the following regiment:

Fold the tie in half. Roll the tie tightly. Store for a few days. Hang the tie. Steam out any remaining wrinkles with a steamer. Repeat if necessary.

The tie may never be perfect again, but it will be wearable.

Yes, that tie needs to meet a steamer.

I would gently steam first, let it dry then coil it from the small end and let it sit for a few days. NEVER IRON A TIE!
