Can this suit be worn as/done to a 2 1/2 roll?

It's a Prada, so I'm guessing it's canvassed.

Do you think it can be worn as a 2 1/2 roll? (use steam to make the roll more prominent)
I'm guessing that steaming it to a 3-roll-2 is out of the question, if it's canvassed.

I assume that this is a second hand purchase, it has that look? IF not why buy something which is not the style you want?

It is unlikely that you could convert it thus using doemstic equipment, it will tend to drift back to its original style as it was cut and sewn.

Surely you can check whether it is cavassed or not - no need to guess.

Yes, second hand/used. Found it on Ebay from a legit seller, so there should be no defects or injuries to it. Quite cheap, and fits my measurements perfectly. So I Thought I'd give it a shot, no biggie if it doesn't work out.

I just thought that the jacket lapels looked longer than on your typical "true" 3-button suit(which seems to stop much higher above the upper button), so I was curious if it could be rolled down more.

My understanding is that a 2-button + roll 1 jacket requires the bottom two buttons to be positioned as if it were a 2 button jacket. The reason is as follows: Any fastened buttons should be positioned around the waist, so that if you have a three button, the top and middle buttons are equally far above and below the waist respectively; in a two button jacket the top button should be at the waist.

If you are happy with it then wear it. Messing about with such a second hand garment rarely works. It does not look that odd although I confess it does not look good either.

After a while you can burn it knowing the exercise has not been too costly.

The roll of the lapel already seems off. Notice how the lapel rolls over the top button. I doubt the roll will be above the top button when unbuttoned. Adjusting by steaming isn't the best idea. The roll of the lapel is controlled by the length of the collar. Adjust the collar to adjust the roll and trim the haircloth and bridle tape in the chest if needed.

Despos:

Please explain, more fully, the concept that the roll of the lapel is controlled by the LENGTH OF THE COLLAR. How is LENGTH OF THE COLLAR measured?

Many thanks.

Thanks for the response, I'll post more pics when I get it. (FWIW, I'm 6'3'' and slim, so I guess a real 3 button suit wouldn't hurt)
