So this is my first post here, im usually just a jeans and tshirt guy with no real "style but in the past when I have had questions (usually matching colors
lookaround.gif
) I've found this site helpful. AnywayI needed a suit for a baptism in april, went with a charcoal suit and lavender shirt. Normally with charcoal or gray I really like the oxblood/cordovan shoes and according to the sales person, those are the correct shoes for the suit, but with a lavender shirt and a paisley (sp?) tie that picks up the gray and lavender with subtle blacks, I'm thinking black shoes would look best. The problem is I don't have either to try on with the suit, I'm planning on ordering some Allen Edmonds (I tried them on in NY last month and really liked them alot). Unfortunately I don't have the money to buy both pairs right away. So any help you guys could give me would be really appreciated. Sorry for the long post, just wanted everyone to realize where the cluelesness is coming from. Thanks

Black is the most formal, and will look fine with just about any color of suit. That said, the same can be said of merlot/burgundy. It's incredibly versatile and goes with most colors of pant too. Goes with jeans too.

Ultimately, I suggest you wear the shoes commensurate with the occasion. Is it a somber baptism, or a lively baptism? Sorry, don't go to baptisms I don't know what the atmosphere is like. But ask yourself that question and the answer should become apparent.
