The weather is in the upper 50/lower 60 throughout southern cal, so a tweed odd jacket would be appropriate....especially if you will be up and out in the mornings before 8am when the weather is in the low 40s.

Just make sure to throw on a fair isle slip over vest to complete the look

How about you actually read the majority of the bickering on this thread before you try to participate?

Says the guy calling people "pussies" for wearing a certain type of clothing over/under an arbitrary temperature.

Yes, your participation was especially valuable there. Good work.

Swing and...miss...

The point was that in Canada weather in the 60s is swimming-in-the-lake weather, not tweed over turtleneck as someone from LA suggested. Anyone who has lived in real winter would bake in tweed in 60s weather.

Think.

spent 4 winters in new hampshire where all we had was snow and granite mountains
so i think i know a thing or two about "real winter"

places with harsh winters tend to have well heated buildings
where as places with milder winters don't bother with heating even when the temps range in the 50's
so indoor temperatures could actually be warmer in canada or new hampshire compared to california
and you just don't layer up the same for 40-60 degrees as you might for 20-40 degrees
so stop acting like you're the only who's ever experienced cold weather

LOL, are you honestly comparing your 4-year-indoor-winter experience to someone who has been born and raised in snow and built their first snowman when they were 2 years old?!?

There is no way someone from the North could wear a tshirt, a shirt and a tweed jacket in 60 degree weather and be comfortable, not to mention a turtleneck, as someone suggested...

Wait what? When did tweed become "formal"?

Wear tweed down here --- no one will mind or even notice. The weather is finally cooling down a bit, and gets chilly at night.

Tweed at night,
Gangsta delight.

Even gangsters know tweed is not formal, and this is why I never wear tweed to evening events.

wearing a cinnamon harris tweed sports jacket right now. have lived cold places. didn't like it. had the good sense to move. now, when it gets to be 50 degrees near the ocean, i need tweed AND cashmere. it's a luxury.

It became "formal" in California at the same time anything with lapels started to be classfied as formal. Which is to say, around 1950.

Yes you can, though no one wears tweed here. Its been cold in LA/OC this winter, the past few weeks have been low 40s (night) - low 60s (day).
