I've only worn it once to a formal event, and was wondering if I could wear it with something more casual like jeans?

Pretty much anything other than patent leather looks fine with jeans. A shiny pair of black cap toes might look a bit out of place, but it'll still be OK for the most part.

Assuming that we're talking nice, dark wash jeans here, not something stone washed and full of holes.
