Can I wear a khaki, linen, 3 piece suit/tux to high school prom?

^Carnation seems innocuous. Opera pumps, unless they're part of a rental package, are going to be hard to find and an impractical acquisition for a kid just getting out of high school. I for one don't dig the wing collar--just screams "prom rental." Wouldn't a simple butterfly style bowtie be okay?

JLibourel, I agreed on the wing collar. I would rather have a turndown collar to hide the black bow-tie band. I also like a marcella/pique front instead of pleats, but that is just my personal preference.

Before you decide: remember, pictures will be taken and those pictures may live on forever.

What I'd give for a neuralyzer from Men In Black.......

Black tux aint boring. I mean, I love black tux because it looks cool.

Wear it. For high school proms I seen kids wear suits with Jordans so you will be fine

The opera pumps and carnation are grossly exceesive for a Prom.

You guys do realize that the prom in question was probably a couple of months ago?

Yes, that's why I said, "If you WORE the khaki suit..."

Reading comprehension is your friend.

Pretty sure he means it was pointless to reply since the kid's original post was in March and he's not coming back to read stuff once the prom is over.

Reading between the lines is your friend.

You're right, but Vinny has a point. I was noting that TylerBirt's post was basically a necropost, and everything that came after was pointless for the reason you state. But I didn't catch that Vinny's was stated in the past tense.

You can't speak about the past if it's not (you guessed it) in the past. Again, reading comprehension...

On another note, seems like I've attracted myself a stalker

We're both right - your post was pointless (shocker) and you know what past tense is (yay).

Not a stalker. Just not a fan of snark that has no wit behind it. One day I'll remember that it's everywhere on the internet. Guess that day isn't June 20th.

Yes, you can. You will also look like a chump. What are you trying to prove? You want to make your date look bad?

Usually a khaki linen suit is worn for an outdoor daytime occasion. But for the purpose of looking good for the cameras and your friends, you might as well don your best fitting tux. If you think black is too boring, you can try a midnight blue one.
