Can I wear a grey plaid tie with a grey plaid blazer?

Do these go well together? My gut says no but I thought I'd ask since I don't really know what the hell I'm talking about. Please excuse the crap knot, I was in a hurry. Thanks in advance for your help. Edit: Sorry I meant herringbone blazer.

What could you wear a glen plaid tie with? I have one that has more of a brownish shade than grey, and have never worn it, which is a shame because it is nice. Is a white shirt, navy blazer fine?

Solid colored brown, grey or navy flannel suit. I've been wanting a barba black/white cashmere glen plaid tie, but won't buy it because I fear it'll sit in the tie box for a year unworn.

I totally understand. Got the tie a while ago from my girlfriend and haven't worn it yet even though i like it
