Can I remove the front pocket patch on a PRL blazer?

I saw a PRL blazer that I quite fancied except for the horrendous "club" patch. Could that be removed without the pocket looking destroyed? The blazer is very similar to this one:

Note the ugly patch smack in the middle of the breast pocket.

Yea, I kept telling myself "It's ok, it doesn't look that bad".

Then I looked in a mirror. Yikes!

It seems so gaudy. I can hardly handle a blazer with brass buttons, this was just too much.

But I really liked the rest of the jacket.

Polo normally only puts that kind of patch on its lowest line of clothing, so the blazer you were looking at was likely one of their crappy department-store items; even if it were extraordinarily cheap, it would probably not be worth the effort to remove that patch.

If it's been embroidered directly onto the pocket then the pocket will most likely already have small tears underneath. Removing it, even carefully, will reveal the tears. If it's a patch cleanly sewn on along the edges then you may be able to remove it with minimal issues, same as eg. faux button hole stitching.
