Can I polish these shoes?

Hey all

Happy to be here, this is my first time posting so be gentle with this newb.

I have a Kiwi shoe polishing kit with black and brown polish. I watched a few Youtube videos and I'm ready to go. However, I'm not 100% positive on my shoes and if I should even attempt it.

First I have a black pair of Cambrians that seem like good candidates for a polish. See pic. I'm going to take out the laces first. Anything I need to be aware of?

Second is a pair of brown keens. Now I don't think these are even candidates for a polish are they? What can I do to make these things look better than their sad state now?

Do not put polish on your brown shoes ! It's going to stain.

OK I figured that wouldn't work. Is there any way to fix them up a bit?
