Can I Make This Fabric Work For A DB BlazerSuit?

6-7 oz. Minnis Airborne in an oatmeal color. Would love to get a BlazerSuit made out of this - DB coat with 3 patch pockets.

Will this color work for a DB odd jacket or just look a bit off?

Fabric seems too light in weight IMO for the blazer portion of a blazersuit. I am not a fan of lightweight odd jackets unless they have an interesting texture (or pattern). Just my 2 cents. I could see the db suit although I'd go with a welted breast pocket.

I love the color, but have difficulty in picturing this as an odd coat.

I think it you have darker features, like Cary Grant, yes. If you are more fair skinned I would say it might look very plain and potentially make you look washed out.

Same here. Nice suit but I wonder about the utility of such a light weight DB SC.

6-7 oz. Minnis Airborne would make a lot of sense here in Houston, Tx. Do you think you will wear it much in NYC, or would it also be for travelling to very warm places too.

Thanks guys. My only concern is around the color and not the weight. If I pair this DB jacket with light gray trousers will it still looked like an orphaned suit jacket? I'm hoping the 3-patches, kinda odd color etc, would help mitigate that.

rnoldh: This would get plenty of use from July - Sept. in NYC - the summer here is anything but mild. I need something just like this, as the majority of my odd jackets are in the 10-13oz. category.

Orphaned, IMO. If this is for summer use perhaps a blazersuit in silk/linen/cotton? You'd get more use of the coat on its own...

Only Charles would wear that washed-out colour as a casual jacket:
