Can anyone identify this coat?

Apparently Tom cruise had his bottom spanked by a drag queen at Matt Damons birthday party last weekend and by all accounts he enjoyed the experience immensely, so nothing out of the ordinary there then.. ;)

What was worthy of note however was his coat. It seems to be some sort of single breasted peacoat without epaulettes. Does anyone know what sort of coat it is or where I might locate something similar for myself?

Cruise outfit was certainly better put together than birthday boy Matt Damon's which featured a double polyester fleece ensemble.

It's actually double-breasted. For some reason, I think of that kind of coat as primarily a woman's garment. Not sure why.

Yeah, it has 2 rows of buttons so I guess that qualifies it as double breasted. However, I doesn't have the extra 3 square feet of material in the front that most double breasted peacoats would have. Hence it looks a lot neater when opened than a peacoat would look. I always think a peacoat left open makes the wearer resemble an out of work brass band leader. That's why I look the look of this better.

    I wouldn't call that a pea coat

But then what would you call it? Whether it's actually a man's or a woman's coat It seems to me to give off a slightly military vibe. I agree it doesn't look quite like peacoat, the collar is way too small and the overlap in the front is nowhere near as big as on a peacoat.

A Google search for "House coat" brings up mostly bath robes and smoking jackets.
