    it looks so unfinished.

You literally look like you should be selling cell phones at the mall kiosk

Why are you hanging out at the mall?

But yes, this "look" is ridiculous.

I don't see the problem. I'd definitely hire that gentleman to install my satellite dish.

i don't really think it's a "look" so much as a response to the climate. have you been outside today? it was 97 and damp in RVA. felt like a steam locker.

also there is a corporate culture. i wouldn't wear a suit to work because i would then be a dick. i wouldnt wear a tie either, though. if i worked at ibm i would be all on the short sleeve shirt and tie, son.

At least it's not a short sleeved shirt to complete the "Homer Simpson" or "Jehova's Witness".

I do that all the time - tie without suit jacket/sports jacket.
But then when I do that I usually have a v-neck jumper over my shirt or I have an overcoat of some sort on and buttoned up.

You know that every individual imagination is most of the time specific and can be different on someone else . Beside that, you can sketch millions of combo's just on a discription. Anyway that picture is terrible. But nothing wrong with this:

Not really sure what the big deal is. Most companies are business casual where everyone wears that without a tie... is it an issue to throw on a tie? It makes a little more dressed up without looking odd or getting comments all day.

There's 5 or 6 things wrong with this. Most obviously... why is he modeling clothes with his eyes shut. This can't possibly be the best pic taken in that shoot. The tie's short end is running wild. His color pattern is super saturated. He appears to have no belt, and his hair is an abomination.

I agree with your point, but lets find another photo shall we?

Actually we are talking about the combination of certain clothes which topic starter can't stand. We are not here to judge someone face expression. It's just a shot where the contrary is proved on topic starter argumentations.

You got my point. But if you can find a better picture, be my guest.

I'm not sure what the RVA is, but in the financial district of NYC it was 93 and humid. I wore a navy wool suit. Was I hot? yup. Did I look like I was about to ask you if you wanted cell phone insurance? no.

This looks like the guy just forgot the jacket to his suit. While walking around the office, its fine, when outside, get your coat comandatore.

Yeah, adding a tie to a casual outfit is stupid.
