Can a black velvet blazer be worn casually?

Hello everyone:

I am *really* new here, as you can probably see, so I was wondering:

Can I wear a black velvet blazer casually? If so, how? What should I wear under the blazer? Can I wear jeans? What shoes would work best?

I'm 19 on a college campus, if that helps anything at all.

This is what I'm interested in: http://canada.armaniexchange.com/pro...910.&sizeName=

Thanks!
Mark

I don't think that jacket was really made to be worn formally.

Yeah, that's what I thought... I was just wondering what might go with it, perhaps, and in what setting, more or less.

I wore a midnight blue velvet jacket just the other day:

Note that I'm way older than you are, so I consider this a casual look.

That jacket is made to be worn with jeans and a t shirt or the like. Throw it on with jeans and a t shirt, or an oxford, or a chambray shirt. Sneakers, dress shoes, boots, whatever.

Not off the top of my head... But $225 is WAY overpriced for that article. I could probably find something at Daffy's that's much better for around 50-60 bucks... maybe less. EDIT: Try Zara or H&M.

I checked out Zara's online selection just now... They don't seem to have anything that seems as "youthful," if you know what I mean ^^;.

The velvet blazer I'm wearing in those pics was $59 at Express. Stop trying to shop online and go to a store. They are all over the place at Macy's etc. for cheap.
