Says the man who uses a professional, industrial-strength camera strap on his assault rifle of a camera. Vox, you vex me. You care very much about looking good and stylish (as do I), yet don't seem to get why an ugly camera strap is uglifying.

A cape can also serve as a camera blind.

The last shot would be fine if the dude was duded up.

That same guy carrying the canvas bag on which your settling would look any better than he does.

That being said, you have a very nice camera and I like the idea of a nice bag and strap for it. I still prefer the JNK over the other options.

My solution would be to get both bags, if I must be honest.

No, because then he'd be duded up. Anyway, I think he's pretty dude-y as it is.

Granted, he is made to look very douchey in the photo, and one can't only blame the camera strap. That said, the strap isn't helping, and if he were wearing my canvas bag, I'd at least see one thing in the photo that isn't objectionable.

That being said, you have a very nice camera and I like the idea of a nice bag and strap for it. I still prefer the JNK over the other options.

Ultimately, it may come to that. But I do want to limit how much I spend on this venture.

The problem w/ a nice camera bag is that you'll want to use it (i.e. put your camera in it), which will necessarily result in missed shots. Can I propose a compromise/solution?

It looks pretty snazzy and retro when you're carrying the camera. Though I agree that it makes taking the surprise shot a little difficult.

That's why I like using a bag instead. You can't walk around with an eveready case open, the top half flapping around in the wind. With a bag, you can keep the camera out so long as its in use, ready to shoot.

For strap, can't you find one of the leather folks on the forum and have one made the perfect length for you?

For the bag, would choose a softer material than leather or Filson's canvas. Even Billingham with the padding was too bulky.

I know you looked at chapman, but I would look for a woolen bag similar to this:

Straps are easy to have made. My original question had more to do with figuring out the right place to have your camera hanging.

When I first started thinking about the right sort of bag months and months ago, Filson was the first thing that came to mind. But nothing they make is the right size or shape.

Wool would be okay--nothing against it. But aesthetically, there is more danger it will be too close to something I'm already wearing. Hence, canvas.
