Camera Bag - Who invented?

I'm hoping that someone can help me with this bit of trivial obscura. Who/what company came up with the first Camera Bags? Are they still in business?

I'm not interested in the foam and nylon versions. Looking more toward the Leather and Canvas pieces.

I don't know who invented them but Billingham is certainly well-known for their traditional canvas, and leather offerings:

Don't know if this is the originator, but Leica made bags much like the ones Labelking has pictured 30-40 years ago. I still have one to carry about my old Nikon FTn Photomics. Great bag.

I understand that Billingham made some special bags just for Leica.

Most of the Leica cases I've seen were stiff leather as these:
