I'm thinking of picking up one of these, but I'm in my 20s. The problem is, I've only seen retirees wear overcoats in this color. Can I pull it off?

It's by J Crew. Thanks for any advice.

Gee and here I thought black was the #1 color for retirees.

There's no prob with a guy in his 20's wearing a camel colored coat- unless you're worried your goth friends will disown you.

No way. IMO camel overcoats have the potential to be the most stylish color available. I have a camel overcoat that I love; it's much more interesting than the grey and black coats that I see most of the time. Look at recent Sartorialist pictures to see stylishly carried-off camel coats.

There is nothing wrong with a camel over coat. Im young and I actually tend to buy things that young people dont wear. Whenever I go shopping with someone they always tell me that I shouldnt buy a certain item because it is too "old man" but when I wear it with an outfit I make it look youthful. It is all about the fit and the pieces you wear with it.

I think that camel coats are classic, but have been off-the-fashion-scene for so long that they are ready for a comeback.

Haha, didn't know vox was a fan...

Ok, after taking the unanimous advice into consideration, I nabbed it.

A pretty good deal, too with the extra30 code.

I'm not an old folk, and I love wearing my camel overcoat. Here's a pic. Pardon the sloppy buttoning. It's 100% cashmere from Borrelli.

+1 on camel. I have a cashmere one and it looks great with a gray suit. I'd wear it if I wear 10 years younger or older.

+3 on camel-colored overcoats, for each one that I have

They are various styles, from a wool raglan Hickey Freeman to a singlebreasted cashmere Sulka to a Crombie double-breasted. I never get tired of camel-colored overcoats.

Actually I think the camel color looks great. My only question would be if it's more suitable for daytime use (as opposed to darker colored overcoats for nighttime use).
