Go to page 3 for the ordering experience! Go to page 4 for the finished shoes! I just moved to Santiago, Chile about 2 months ago. I've been looking for nice shoes and it has been very difficult. However, yesterday I found a place right nearby where I live (close to the Biblioteca Nacional) that had signs in the window that said artisanal shoes, custom shoes and had many examples in the window. I went inside and they actually do make custom shoes. You can chose different styles, materials and they are really made by hand. She told me the workshop is in the basement of the store. She showed me a shoe that wasn't finished, before the sole was added and it was obvious it was hand made. I also felt in inside the shoe, and I could feel the stitches or bumps for the stitches below the leather on the inside edges of the sole. The outside of the soles, when finished, are beautiful and have channeled stitching. The prices are also quite low. They start at 88,000CLP, which is ~185USD. Boots start at just over 100,000clp (~215usd). (edit: these prices are incorrect, bespoke shoes start at 130,000 CLP or asbout 260 USD). The only detail I wasn't sure about was lasts. I'm unsure if they make lasts for you or if you can bring your own last in. I had the impression that there is some customization in lasts, unsure if they make one for you. I mentioned the word last, and she didn't know what I was talking about. I don't know all the details because my spanish still kind of sucks. I will find out more details. If they make lasts I'll eventually order a pair of double monks, since I can never wear rtw double monks due to my foot dimensions. I think the term for a last is 'horma'. Any help from spanish speakers would be appreciated. (Confirmed they make a custom last for your shoes.) Also, the leather isn't of the highest quality. We're not talking EG or JL. But the shoes are nicer than anything I've seen people wearing here. My spanish still kind of sucks so that is why I don't know all the details. I'll report back here soon, and try to snap some photos today or tomorrow. I plan on going next week to get a pair of suede shoes made for me. She said turnaround is 15-25 days, depending on what I'm asking for. They also sell ready made shoes, and had a large inventory, but they weren't what I was looking for.
