Are current Calvin Klein Collection Suits as well made as the older CK Collection suits? I don't know much about them.

i bought one about a year ago, the fabric and cut were ok and nice slim fit, however it was fully fused. i dont remember exactly, but qualitywise the original price was quite inflated. however since it fit and was on sale i bought it anyways.
back in the day ck collection was made in italy, i was surprised mine was made in the czech republic. def not high quality like it used to be!

I'm unsure if it's the same line but I know that Peerless in Montreal makes some of the Calvin Klein suits. If those are the suits you're talking about then it's the same quality control and construction as Sean John, Lauren Ralph Lauren (an exclusively outlet/department stores line) and the like, nothing extraordinary.

I recently purchased a solid navy "workhorse" (travel, summers, etc) CK from an Off Saks. Maybe I got ripped off, but at about $275, it sure looks sharp--color, silhouette, gorge where I like it, slim trousers, etc.

Somteimes we are reminded that it's the man, not the suit (though I still like the nice sh**).

Just to be sure we're talking apples to apples here....

Calvin Klein Collection suits are are about $1200 - $1400........the CK suits at Macys and the like are a far cry from the former in terms of fabric, fit, and construction.

I've seen these suits and I feel they are not as well made as the previous collections. I also noticed (as mentioned above) that they were fully fused. Depending on price and what you're looking for, they could be a decent buy. I wouldn't pay anything too crazy for them and I would look for other options first.

The Made in Italy one was made by Vestimenta and it's fabulous. Slim and solid construction.

The ones with the white labels? Those go for $200 at TJ Maxx here. Stay far away unless you need a decent cheap suit to roll around in the mud in. CK collection is a good step up in fabric and construction, but I wouldn't pay too much more for them.

They're fused. I have one that is in a heavy flannel, so the fusing is not a big deal (that, plus it is really of a casual jacket that happens to having matching trousers than a suit, certainly not proper for business wear).

I have a feeling the white label CK suits aren't even authentic CK suits but just licensed clothing. They're probably not even designed by CK's people but, rather, are just generic suits manufactured by a factory and the CK people just allow the factory to slap their CK label on them just to receive a royalty for each suit sold.

    That's what I think. Am I right?

I'm quite sure it's the same thing for a lot of other affordably-priced designer labels found in mid-price departemnt stores and mid-price retailers: Perry Ellis, Oscar de la Renta, Daniel Hechter, Pierre Cardin, DKNY, etc.

If you buy a genuine Perry Ellis suit in a designer store, you're paying a hell of a lot more than $400 that a mid-price department store would sell it for.

These brands are just licensed merchandise and not actually the "real thing".

That's why high-end designer brands such as Hugo Boss, Armani, Brioni, Canali, Kiton, Zegna, etc., do not sell cheaper versions of their suits in mid-price department stores. With these brands, you're getting the Real McCoy.

Zegna makes a cheaper fused line, and there are plenty of Zegna fabric suits an uninitiated person might buy thinking they were getting the real thing, sold at Saks etc....
