Let me clarify: when my colleague opined that my shoes were too formal, he was merely saying it as a matter of taste, not saying it was prohibited in a business casual environment.please forgive my ignorance as i don't work in an office environment. i always thought that business formal meant that you have to dress up, and that business casual meant that you don't have to dress up, but you can if you want to. would an office manager/supervisor actually reprimand an employee for being overly dressed?
i always thought that if i worked in a business casual office i would continue to wear a suit everyday, because i want to. besides, without a tie a suit is casual.
