I bought a pair of C&J Aintrees about a month ago from Plal and today at lunch I noticed that the leather on the inside seam has come undone after 5-6 wears.

I sent an email to Plal right now, I figure it's the middle of the night there, so I will hear something tonight or tomorrow, but has anyone here had an issue similar to this? Is this an easy fix if needed or will Plal/C&J come through and take proper action in replacing the pair. I feel like they shouldn't be repaired here and should be replaced outright since this seems like a quality issue. Am I wrong for thinking this.

It's hard to tell what is happening in that pic, but what you describe certainly shouldn't happen.

Wow, that is a huge problem.
I take it that what you are speaking of is the white portion along the seam?
If so, send them back for sure.

The white part is the lining or whatever you want to call it inside the shoe.

I'm no expert in shoe construction but it appears there is very little material for the stitching to be effective. Looks like when they cut the leather they were a cm or two too short. Or I could be way off and the stitching was bad.

That's poor.

I've got 2 pairs of Aintree and have had no issues with the construction.

That's just a function of living in Metro Detroit. It's the environment rejecting your efforts to dress better.

Honestly, whether PLal handles it for you or they direct you to C&J, I'd have to belileve it's C&J that should step up (no pun intended) on this one.

It looks like it is just torn. I have seen this happen to leather where there are too many stitches per inch and the leather becomes like perforated paper. Manufacturing error, or they chose inferior hides.

I would be surprised if CJ doesn't replace those. They're clearly defective.

i think you are right on this. i looked at it under a magnifying glass and it exactly looks like perforated paper.

If it is torn like perforated paper, then the leather quality is very poor.

Since you're in the east coast, I might also consider calling C&J in NY and tell them about this. See what they can offer. Plal is an authorized C&J reseller anyway.
