A Sicilian shoe repairer, through broken English, opined that my new Lowndes were snug but not gratuitously so, and offered to incrementally stretch them. However, I take his advice with a grain of salt. Aside for mafia anecdotes he imposed of me, he mentioned that in Palermo the shoes used to taper before the toes ended
sort of rendering the toes into a pyramid. He also mentioned that my shoes will become looser over time, I suppose months down the road. The shoes still feel a little tight to me. The straps are creased, but otherwise they should not have depreciated much -- leather soles have not yet met concrete. What I don't understand is that Shyam and others all recommend the same size for the 337 & 348 last. I have a pair of Weymouths that after a few wearings I feel as if I could use a size smaller, but my Lowndes in the same size are perhaps too tight. Perhaps, this comfort issue is inherent to monk straps. What would you guys recommend I do? I know the details are limited. And The tightness has to do with width, not really length. Thanks!
