All T M Lewin suits are sold with as many extra trou as required. I have three per suit personally.

I repaired a pair of trousers last night that belong to a suit I've had for a decade, and worn a lot. It's wearing out and will get replaced soon, but I don't wish I had another pair of trousers to rotate in - a decade is plenty of life to get out of a suit. My tastes change, and I quite like the opportunity to buy something else.

Id say a decade is about 5-10x the average life of a suit... well done!

No, unless you keep one pair under the sun 100% of the time.

Getthefuckouttahere. Really? Say you wear a given suit twice a month, you are replacing all your suits ever year? That's crazy.

I took that comment for what it was: a guy living on another plane of existance clearly with far more more money than the rest of us.

I simply don't buy expensive OTR suits primarily because most don't fit me well. I do go for a 2nd pair of trousers for my MTM suits.

In the USA an OTR suit with two sets of trousers is extinct.

It used to be a common until about the 1960's. I recall a picture of the giant Bond's store in Times Square advertising suits with two sets of pants.

The market isn't there.

In an OTR sale, the purchase of a second trouser may only be possible if the manufacturer still has the cloth. If the suit is from the manufacturer's "in stock" program, extra cloth should be available. Hickey Freeman and Oxxford run an "in stock" program for certain classics, such as navy blue serge, dark grey worsted, etc. On a unique cloth, don't expect the manufacturer or store to have any extra cloth. Generally, the cloth is used for the entire run.

Brooks ran a separates program in which you could buy the coat and trousers separately. It was a boon for people who wanted a second trouser as well as for those with a sharp drop from coat size to trouser size. Supposedly, the dye lots of the cloth matched. However, these suits were low level. I do not know if this program is still alive.

Good luck.

In Delhi, India, it is only cool enough for a jacket for around 3 months from round 15 Nov to 15 Feb.

I have around 8-9 suits and 7 SCs. Of the 5 working days in a week, I put on a suit 3 times and 2 days I wear a SC with odd trousers.

Didnt actually calculate exactly how many wears I will get out of each garment but I dont think I would want to wear anything 3 years from now. I would be bored with the same suit.

So from my point of view longevity is not an issue rather boredom is. As such I no longer believe in English cloths also, rather I prefer 'luxury' and Italian cloths as I like them much more than the Minnis and other stuff held in such high regard here. I would take a LP cloth any day over a Minnis.

-1^^^!

You really can't get a 2nd pair here in the US OTR. You are just SOL.

If I went nine months between wearings I'd forget what I owned. It would be like getting a new wardrobe every year.
