Bought a NWT pair of Peter Millar Pants 38x36. Said they arrived damaged.

Returned a Used pair of Peter Millar Pants 38x35. No tags, two finger-sized holes, bleach stains, missing two buttons, spider nests built in folds from poor storage.

Apparently, I can still only withhold 50% of his payment, even though it's not the same item I sent him. i'm gonna have to call back on that one.

Now the truth comes out, sounds like this guy needs laundry lessons. Four calls with ebay and they still tell me 50/50 is the best I can do. But they assure me that the buyer gets a warning letter and a magical strike against them.

That's complete bullshit, he copped to removing the tags and laundering them. How could they still have spiderwebs on them after putting in washer and dryer????
ebay should cover that 100%.

Sounds to me like he could have returned you a ****-stained rug and 50/50 is the best you'd be able to do. As a buyer it is great, you can get away with nearly anything based on stuff you read here. As someone that only sells items every once in a while, having little to no protection causes me to check for months after transactions for chargebacks, etc. Thankfully I haven't had this happen, yet.

they for sure read these threads...or there is some weird scammer forum because the language a lot of them use is almost exactly the same.

I can smell their BS on the first message because of this.

I tried two different browsers in order to print labels. Both failed, but a minute later the first, ie my normal browser, worked.

I also eventually got it to go through, but I had to reload many times to do so.

Note. I’m not worried about the $60 item, or the $40 loss. It’s the $1000 item I sell next week that concerns me.

How were you supposed to know the item was washed, shrunk, bleached,... etc. before you got the item back?

OK got it.

eBay advises sellers to interrogate customers before accepting a return. I assume, I should also require photographic evidence and a notarized affidavit to establish the condition.
