I call it beer goggles for thrifters. You see the label, adrenaline starts pumping and now you're hoping no-one else finds all the others that got donated at the same time.

Where there's a will there's a way. It was shredded at the very bottom, and I guess my eyes just didn't go there.

OK, this is freaking me out. Found an beautiful dunhill tie yesterday, with a very Hermes-like fabric. Just now looked at it more carefully and it has a couple of runs on it. Ye thrift gods, why have you forsaken me so? Swear to all that is holy I actually inspected this tie at the store. [IMG]

I bought an "oops" today. Ties at thrifts/resale shops, you gotta be extra-vigilant...same for just about everything else. There's a reason they were donated or given up, and it's almost never going to be "new item that I never wore."

Except around here. Pretty much no one wears a tie more than once or twice.

I would actually say that the weave there is Herringbone twill, and the pattern is regimental stripe.

I just picked up what I thought was a pristine HSM fully canvassed suit that fit me perfectly only to find a lovely rust-colored stain on the trousers. Can't believe I didn't notice it. Oh well, mothers day 50% off sale at the thrift store. I will at least be able to make my money back.

there is this other guy that does that on eBay (someone who's on the same hunting ground lol...) and he starts his auctions really high. Like 100 or 200 for suits and SCs. Of course he ends up with generally only 1 guy bidding but the price is really good... I'm sure he must relist the items maybe 10 or 20 times but what the heck.....?!?!?!
