I bought them online and they turned out to be the wrong size. I'm not trying to make profit from them but if they are bid for less then $15 then after shipping and fees I'm paying money to sell them...

Something I came up with during idle time today. I fold the piece of paper and turn it into an envelope, much cooler than placing the letter in an actual envelope. It has customer printed on the backside, as you can see. I close it with a small seal. Presentation is everything, foo.

    Nice touch, suited.

BTW, I believe Japan has a level similar to US Registered. I don't know if it's quite as secure, but the Japanese postal system is definitely one I would have no qualms about shipping to. (I know your question was more about customs requirements, though.)

The eBay'r does speak perfect English. I did respond to him asking him about a valid Japan address verified and registered with paypal to make sure its legit. I'm still waiting for a response from him.

Question about revising an Invoice. So of course all of my eBay postings have a flat rate shipping price for Cont. US, being as I stated in my posts that I only ship to Cont. US. (granted I seem to continue to run into people interested elsewhere, so now I'm rethinking my shipping to worldwide after I of course get a little more educated on it all) But back to the question; when it does come down to shipping elsewhere and changing shipping costs to the destination, how do I go about revising an invoice for the buyer to pay with the updated shipping costs? Is it as simple as messaging the buyer to not pay as soon as the auction ends and wait for an updated invoice? Once that is done, do I update the post after its completed to show the affect of an updated price? Can I even change the price of the item and shipping after the auction ends? Then wait for buyer to pay the new price? Or do I change the price in Paypal?

-Sorry for all the questions, I just want to do it right the first time so I can learn from here on out how to go about adjusting prices and shipping for buyers in other countries.

I brought the topic of measurements up in another thread, but wouldn't mind more discussion. I just bought a 40R Hickey Freeman that was listed with shoulders of 19.5" and BOC length of 31", but when I received it and measured it, I got 19" for the shoulder and 30.5" for the length. Now I'm looking at a 40R Paul Stuart suit on ebay made by Southwick with a shoulder measurement of 18" and a length from the bottom of the collar of 32". That seems to be quite narrow and long for a 40R, especially for traditional suit makers like Southwick and Paul Stuart. I'm thinking about taking a chance on it since it's a good price.

It would be interesting to know when people buy on ebay based on measurements, do they usually shoot for a range (like shoulders between 18.5" and 19.5" for a 19" shoulder), or do you only buy when the measurement is right on for you. It would also be interesting to know when people buy a suit, how often do the measurements not come out to what was listed or what you expected.

Ok, so this specifically is about NOT selling on eBay, but it still seem like the best place to ask this. If I want to send and item to a member here, how do i go about printing postage for a regional rate box? I guess eBay has them listed if you print through them, but if I go to the USPS.com site, I can never get them to show up as an available option, even though I've read people posting that they've done so.

So I downloaded Click-N-Ship, and can see them if on the "Calculate a Price" page, but it won't let me "Pay and Print". The button just stays greyed out. On the "Domestic Shipping Label" page, I again can't get the regional boxes to show up as options.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow. Ok, so I was looking under the "Calculate a Price" option on the website, which seems to have a very limited number of options. I didn't even notice that I wasn't looking under the actual shipping procedure.

Still curious about why Click-N-Ship is acting the way it is, but I'm guessing I'm missing something obvious there as well. Thanks for the help.

Not exactly an answer to your question but I think that 1/4 inch either way is a reasonable standard due to slight differences in measuring techniques, maybe 1/8 inch for length.

And a Southwick made BB 1818 40L is usually around 31 inches BOC. 32 inches in a 40 is not far from XL territory. But there are often variations in measurements even on unaltered suits.

I prefer to measure from the collar seam rather than the bottom of the collar. It looks to me like the collar itself will vary in the same way that lapels do, though not as much, obviously.

I would rip out the page with the definition for "Vintage" and high light it. Ship it to him with the forever stamp.

That would be a dick move but it's justified. Do it!

You know, the Bay that comes after "dBay"...Yikes! Tough crowd...

    Almost there!

Come on, Dig! We all know you still have those! Share the wealth!

    Wow! That's a smart idea!

Took me forever and a half to get through to customer service on eBay, but apparently I was a victim of a glitch in their system (with regards to the problem I posted about a few threads ago).

On that note: if anybody wants to talk to a human on eBay customer support (very difficult...they have a pretty hefty tree of options and if you go down any of the branches you'll get a crap computer answer) just keep hitting the pound key when they ask you to select one of their options.

Hey guys, have you shipped anything to any US soldiers on base? I had one win a BIN and the shipping is a base in afghanistan. The address doesn't look like any address I've seen and I wouldn't care, but ebay says the address is invalid and will not let me print a label. WTF??? anyway, let me know if you've had anything like this.

He may have bought stuff from someone here, his feedback history has all kinds of menswear.... c&j, alden, BB.. etc
