Did you put a packing slip inside? If not, you might have a hard time even proving it was dropped off, let alone reclaiming it unless you have a cool local post office with folks that know you...that sort of thing usually ends up in the "open & inspect" pile since it is obviously not going anywhere. I would call them first thing tomorrow AM and go from there.

I've got an ebayer that wants to buy one of my items. It is currently listed at $84 opening bid and $120 BIN. Via ebay message system I've agreed to sell it for $100. Can I just ask him to pay BIN and discount the $20. I noticed that there is a + - discount when you invoice someone, but I've never really done this. I think the last time I tried this I could only + or add to the amount; Maybe to add add'l shipping charges?

Or do I have to create a whole new listing for a BIN of $100. I'll have to pay for an add'l listing.

Also, my item comes with free shipping if it matters.

    Thanks in advance.

    Huh? Reread what I said.

Ebay refunds shipping based on value of item. That's my whole issue.

Just change the BIN price and give him a deadline to buy or price is going back up.

No packing slip, but if I show up with a color picture of the item with a printout of the shipping label that has the same description listed, that would prove beyond any doubt that it belongs to me. I would assume that packages are dropped off without labels on a regular basis, which would lead me to believe they have a procedure for storing them in case they're claimed.

I did read, and re-read what you said, which was originally "It would make sense if postage cost was based on value of the item... you know, instead of weight." So it's the opposite of what you said? Oh, nevermind...pointless discussion which no one cares about.

Doubt it happens on a regular basis, but surely has happened in the past and they have something in place to deal with it. Again, if it were me,. I'd call first thing tomorrow AM and they probably already know what it is and that they have it. In this day & age, an unaddressed package is probably treated the same as if it were addressed to "Obama, Washington DC" (given what happened with stuff mailed after 9/11 and OK City). Just saying - no one is taking things for granted any more...

Got it - it's one of those things where if you don't want to sell on eBay, we have other options. We pay to play - eBay fees, PayPal fees etc. Once someone here suggests a viable option that is not Etsy / Bonanza / 1and1 / etc, with the same exposure and traffic, I'm on board.

The only player I can see out there that could pose any real challenge is Google. I don't understand why they don't do it. Seems a natural fit for them.

I can't use the Amazon platform since my stuff is used. I don't know of another marketplace, its very frustrating because ebay fees are murder.

Buy it now must be 30% greater than my starting bid. I guess I have to change the starting bid to $70?

Once upon a time, Yahoo did that. They still do, but only in a land far, far away.

You can discount him...just have him pay the 120 and give him the discount of 20 via shipping or such

I had something similar recently I couldn't discount purchase price and only could make shipping go to zero. Ended up refunding buyer after he overpaid

Sorry if this is a repost.

Great USPS news—especially for sellers using eBay Labels—free insurance, faster service, and more!

The United States Postal Service has made several recent changes to their Priority Mail[IMG] and Express Mail[IMG] shipping services—and it’s all good news for sellers!
    • Effective immediately, the delivery times for USPS Priority Mail service will be even faster: now just 1 to 3 business days—down from 2 to 3 business days—at no additional cost to you.
    • The Priority Mail logo has been updated across all Priority Mail shipping supplies. Until you need to reorder, you can continue to use all your old Priority Mail boxes.
    • All sellers who ship using any Priority Mail service will now automatically receive $50 worth of FREE insurance for their shipments. Plus, when you ship using these services via eBay Labels, FREE Delivery Confirmation[IMG] is automatically uploaded to My eBay.
    • eBay Top Rated Sellers and Platinum and Titanium PowerSellers who use eBay Labels for Priority Mail services will now receive $100 worth of FREE insurance. This is in addition to the special USPS shipping discounts you already receive—up to 35%—because of your seller status! Plus, FREE Delivery Confirmation is uploaded to My eBay when you ship Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express through eBay Labels.
    • USPS Express Mail has been renamed Priority Mail Express[IMG] and Express Mail International[IMG] has been renamed Priority Mail Express International[IMG]. Everything else about these services stays the same, including shipping times and rates. Your existing and Good ‘Til Cancelled listings will be updated with these new service names automatically, the new names will now appear in drop-down menus when you list, and again, you can still use all your old USPS shipping boxes.

Just catching up with this thread. These are my banned buyers for the blacklist for either making insultingly low offers or non-payment.
