From what I've read in this thread, first class registered mail. Check what price for first class is and add $12 for the registered service. Brianpore is your man for more details on that.

Would it be possible for you to forward him a copy of the receipt since you say you bought them at barney's warehouse sale? It may help if you could show that they were in fact sold as navy. Though I do find it unreasonable that he expects all navy items to match...

I decided to give this a try, listing a few items last night on 10 day auctions with $.01 starting price and no reserve. So far so good. I have watchers and bids on everything. Three of five items have more than one bid. One item is almost up to a reasonable sales price.

    Good luck with your listings.

The five I listed last week for 10 days with 1 cent start are ending tomorrow night; 4 of the 5 are bid up more than I paid to varying degrees and have a decent number of watchers. The 5th item will probably sell for less than a dollar, which is OK by me - I probably would have listed it 2 or 3 times at a "regular" starting bid and never sold it, so better to let it go for cheap vs. hang onto it for weeks. Will report back after mine have ended - there was an initial flurry of action in the first day or two, then the expected lull - hopefully see more action as they're closer to ending.

    Heres a fun one :

Sold item, no payment from buyer, case auto opens after the 4th day for non payment to close on the 7th.
message from buyer "hey, i said i would pay, thats not nice of you to open case"
I say its an auto feature for unpaids, no effect on account if you pay in 72h.
    buyer pays
    i ship
he messages me (paraphrased) "hey i got the bag, its got a crack in it, im sending it back to you)
    paypal dispute opens seconds later
paypal dispute closes an hour later in his favor (no surprise)
i message him saying sorry if its broken, please take a pic and send it to me
he messages and says he sent it already
    :paranoia:
mailman shows up today with a tyvek envelope from the buyer ("tyvek?", I think)
I immediately feel the envelope and dont even need to open it to know my bag isnt in there.
i refuse delivery of the bag and call paypal immediately as well as ebay to note on the case file about the scam
an hour later, case closes and he is refunded
    WTF
I call back (again) ebay/pp to find out what the fuck thats about, they say to call a powerseller account manager on Monday *sigh*
an hour later he negs me saying i was trying to scam him for refusing the package

    OH THE HUMANITY

Dude, I noticed your feedback wasn't 100% anymore so I took a look at that earlier. Sucks big time. Any idea what he sent in its place or just an empty bag? You're lucky you were home to "receive" it.

I knew something wasn't right though since paypal would never let you keep the funds for refusing the package.

Just felt like garbage - my bag had substantial hardware, and was heavy - this was definitely not.

Ill be on the horn on Monday though - the usual local police, paypal, ebay... fun fun fun..

That truly sucks. You really get the cops involved with eBay / PayPal issues?

Please update the blacklist if you have not done so already.

When its theft I do, sure. Thankfully it doesnt happen often at all, but when someone steals my item, I take it personally. You need to open your mouth sometimes and not let these criminals think they can get away with stuff like this.

Much like Rodney Dangerfields closing speech in "Back to School", "We shall not go quietly into that goodnight". :)

Make that mofo pay for all of us Ebay sellers!

This will give new meanings when we put this up.

I think there is even a place somewhere in the ebay / paypal fraud section of the website which suggest you call the local authorities in these cases. I can't locate it right now, but I know I have seen it before.

Fraud / theft through the US Mail gets federal people involved as well...I'd file every possible report if it were me - just to bury that mother effer under a heap o' trouble.

The good: two items did pretty well, considering my initial "investment": an Orvis WW2 Mechanics sweater and a Paul & Shark Yachting shirt.
The not so good: Barbour and Brioni shirts went for less than I thought, given the # of watchers they had. Maybe just rubber-neckers watching out of curiosity.
The ugly: Pal Zileri shirt sold for 61 cents! Hahaha! But the good in that is it will be going to a SF member, and it was all part of an experiment, so there we go.

Upside: another dude that had been stalling for a long time on paying for something came through tonight as well - finally - nice to have that cleared off the books.

10 days with one cent starts did pretty well for a couple things, and I think if they had all been strong items and sure sellers I'd have done better. For run-of-the-mill stuff, I'll stick to 7-day with a real minimum bid. For the occasional thing, might consider 10-day again.
