Well, that's annoying:

'Once this change takes effect, all your existing ‘Pre-owned’ clothing listings will automatically update to ‘Pre-owned - Good’'

Which means I have to edit 95% of my listings. I sure hope this can be done in bulk.

Anyone know if you can protect yourself from returns due to sizing issues? I'm listing a whole heap of leather jackets and don't really have the time for people trying it on. Can I just turn on not accept refunds and state in the listing that I don't accept refunds based on sizing, so please double check all measurements?

Disabling refunds is the move, but it comes with its own risks: You can post all the pictures and measurements you want, but if a buyer purchases your jacket and attempts to get his money back -- either through eBay or a credit card chargeback -- because it didn't fit, they'll use the "item wasn't as described" excuse. In most cases, even if your post is flawless and has ample information, eBay will, nine times out of ten, side with the buyer and force you to accept a return.

I've had plenty of experiences like that, and the only appeal I won was because a buyer never returned an item for me to issue a refund. eBay closed the case on this technicality, and I kept the money.

Since then, when selling clothes, I always allow returns but include as many details as possible in the post and pictures, even going as far as confirming with a buyer who sent me an offer if the item he wants matches his expectations. The extra communication has helped cut down on buy-to-fit returns.

I've been thinking of this post over the last few days... I was originally going to go this route, but I think that the wording for "Excellent" creates an unobtainable standard...any flaw (real or imagined) will make it a NAD candidate, with "Good" giving lots of flex on the downside and opportunity to have items arrive better than expected.

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Also no.

For the majority of ebay clothing buyers measurements are an unfathomable mystery.

For alpha-shirts I give neck-sleeve and P2P actual measurements along with instructions to measure a shirt which fits and then compare those measurements. I get returns for fit because "This doesn't fit like a Medium."

The thing which I'm trying to understand is that with shirts, more than 90% of my returns for fit are because the shirt is too small. Has everyone put on weight and somehow not noticed it?

From a long-time buyer's perspective: most people think they need less extra material than they actually do in order to feel comfortable in a shirt. Nobody actually compares to another shirt (too lazy).

I personally appreciate actual measurements for things, and won't buy from someone unless they either gave those or took good enough photos that I can tell (for shoes and such). Never returned anything for fit issues yet.

Regarding the new condition ratings... the notice says it would take effect Feb. 4, but I see no signs of it in my listings. No change to existing listings, and no new options to pick from.
Have any of you seen it implemented yet?

I've seen nothing of it from a listing or shopping standpoint.

At least he got right to the point with his garbage offer. What is more irritating is when they ask a few dumbass questions and then, since we are now buddies and have been chatting, come in with their lowball offer.

I have a guy right now who I should sell a sport coat to. He is $5 below what I told him I would accept. I should let it go, but I get irritated with these dipshits who want to play "The Art of the Deal" on every little negotiation.
