Here’s a new one.

He bought this NEW tie in June and has had it for 29 days, and has presumably been wearing it. He Left positive feedback upon receiving it "I like it a lot. Quality item. Negotiated shipping for free".

I run a sale 29 days later and he sends a message that he wants a partial refund or he will return it. And then he did end up opening a return just before midnight.

Man, eBay really confuses me. I reported a fake item with explicit details. Just got an email saying they have found it doesn't violate any policies and now some poor guy just bought it at authentic prices. Incredible.

Yeah they don't care. I tried reporting blatantly fake watches and eBay turned a blind eye. They were selling slightly under the $2,000 guaranteed authentication policy, so some people are buying these pieces of trash and probably not getting the watches authenticated.

?? Maybe that's what they mean by "miscategorized."
The enclosed eBay card said that the shoes were not eligible for verification. All it cost me was a three week delay and fifteen minutes cleaning styrofoam crumbs out of the insides of the shoes.

What do you guys respond to the "what's the best price you can do?" questions? The items are OBO, so they should just be making an offer rather than asking me to.
I direct them to make an offer through that option on the listing if they are interested.
I have an auto-decline price point set up for lowball offers.

The best negotiating strategy is to make the prospective buyer make an offer. I would do that on a high ticket transaction like real estate or a vehicle. But on a shirt that's not worth my time. I just send an offer, typically a very small discount.

That often results in a sale, and I didn't even have to invest the time in typing a response. Plenty on ebay want to negotiate a few dollars. I love it when they have a 'budget' which this item just happens to exceed. At that point just buy it or don't buy it. I don't give a ****.

I dropped the best offer option a couple years ago so I reply "thank you for your interest, however the price is firm", people buy or they don't buy and I don't have to put any more thought to it. I discount unsold items a little bit once a year.

Sales might be a bit slower (although nothing obvious) but it made my life much easier.
