What’s managed payments? Still paying and receiving via PayPal in the U.K. for eBay.

Another fun thing with Managed payments, got a message yesterday that my account was under a "performance review" and all payments would be held during. Finally got ahold of customer service today, nothing looks out of the norm, just something that can be triggered if you list/sell a heavier volume than normal. My sales are up probably 15-20% this month but nothing drastic. CS agent told me it could be a day to a week to go thru the review and during that time they will just ever so kindly hold my money.

Must be a USA thing. Ebay is handling the payments themselves, rather than using PayPal to process payments.

Anyone else seeing an uptick in scammers lately? I've had several BIN offers for well above my starting bid with a note saying something like "text me at this number and we'll arrange payment" or something like that.

Not on eBay. I don't sell on Poshmark but it seems pretty prevalent over there. I'd say on 50% of the items that I'm interested in, I see a similar comment.

I almost got scammed by a UK buyer.

He bought a NWT Tom Ford suit at BIN price.

Paypal said payment was on hold pending a review. I asked the buyer about it, and he said eBay told him I had to ship the item out before the funds would clear.

I followed up with eBay, and they said do not ship the item.

After about a week, I got a message that there were insufficient funds from the buyer (or something along those lines).

Right after that, the account disappeared...

But thankfully I didn’t mail out the package.

I google streetviewed the guys house, and he actually had a nice place. Don’t know why he needed to try and scam a suit from me...

eBay can add ‘make offers ‘ on my items when they feel like it? Wth.

I’m so sick of ‘others’ trying to make decisions for me. I don’t need to be managed. I am responsible and accountable. I can make my own decisions and accept the consequences.

done bitching.

Yeah, I’ve taken to adding when I’m listing, so at least I’m managing the process.

So, you have BIN items that ebay adds best offer to, or auction items? I've never had this happen to me, though I've had plenty of people message me with offers, it's only through the messaging system.

For me it’s BIN items, I think if they haven’t sold after a week or so eBay adds Best Offer, you can take it off again, but it then adds it again after a certain amount of time.
