It said something like "we are not able to print shipping labels for certain locations, please visit your local post office."

Hmm, that is strange. I've never gotten that one. Of course I don't ship a lot via Express International either...mostly Priority. Perhaps that is the catch.

    HUGE NEWS (imo)

I went to ship something to Canada this morning though ebay (a tie) 1st class mail and I usually add registered mail at the post office (all total about $22 shipping). I see a new option from ebay called E-USPS DELCON INTL. This is suppose to be a new scanned tracking service though the post office like delivery confirmation but which includes Canada. Total to ship was $7.70 and I am told is is suppose to be scanned just like it would be here in the US which is all ebay needs for proof of deliver under $250 (signature). Has anyone else used this!?! Sent the buyer a refund of $15 for the difference in shipping which he already paid as it was SO much cheaper!! Fingers crossed but for a $30 tie I figured I could try it out.

    • USPS is introducing a new Delivery Confirmation[IMG] service—Electronic USPS Delivery Confirmation[IMG] International (E-USPS DELCON INTL[IMG])—that will be included at no charge to select locations. Upon launch, this service will be offered on the following services to Canada (with more countries to come):
      • All First-Class Package International Service[IMG] items (replacing First-Class Mail International[IMG]—see below)
      • Select Priority Mail International[IMG] Flat Rate Envelopes and Small Flat Rate Priced Boxes
E-USPS DELCON INTL[IMG] will be available through eBay Labels for qualifying shipments as of January 27. And as with other delivery confirmation services, E-USPS DELCON INTL[IMG] information will be automatically uploaded to My eBay and emailed to your buyer.

Yes, I have been using the Delcon for quite some time now without issue. Would have made a post about it, but I figured it was already available to everyone.

NICE! I have to go edit all my auctions now to make lower shipping to canada which is awesome. I never used the ebay shipping tool as I would always go to the post office and I did today by accident and that came up which was awesome!

You have full sell protection tracking to canada no problem?

I, too, am excited. I just got through responding to an angry rant by a Scotsman about how my UK shipping was too high.

But my question, Brian is: Why are you only going to change your auctions for lower shipping to Canada? The quote you provided seems to suggest DelCon is available for ALL first class international packages. Am I misreading it (it is quite late and I;m quite tired....)

    Quote from USPS website....

"New for January 2013, free electronic USPS Delivery Confirmation International offers scan events for customers using select software or online tools. E-USPS DELCON INTL is optionally provided for certain Priority Mail International Flat Rate Envelopes and Small Flat Rate Boxes to select destinations. It will be available first only to Canada."

Only for Canada right now, but will apparently be extended to some other areas as well.

Got no response in the thrift thread; Are these the nicest hand sewn button-holes I've ever seen or are the just not hand sewn??? I can usually tell quick but these look almost too nice from the back side.

I just had a case opened against me from a French guy that bought something. I sent it with a tracking number and the last entry says that they attempted to deliver it and he wasn't home. He has the tracking number and can see this as well.

In the dialogue within PayPal, he writes in French (he wrote English to me before he bought it) that they attempted to deliver the package and he wasn't home and that they didn't leave him a slip.

Since he didn't message me first to ask about its status and instead opened a case, any suggestions on what my next step should be? I mean, the carrier likely has it and he needs to pick it up. I don't know exactly where, but I'll call tomorrow to find out about it. Anything else I should do/know?

If its a signature required delivery that you sent, and he filed a not received claim, its totally covered. All you have to do is reply very simply : "tracking number is XXXX. Attempted delivery and is now at PO waiting collection or redelivery. Please contact your local post office to claim your package". Nothing further than that. Once its scanned as delivered, (keep an eye on it, they dont check automatically), then reply again to the case saying "tracking number XXX is now delivered, thank you again for your purchase" or something like that. Then, call paypal, tell them the tracking shows as delivered, and to close the case.

If he declines the package or it gets sent back to you, then youve still got your item and your money, so you are not out anything.

Thank you for that info! I sent it via Hermes Paket Service, and they require a signature. I assume it's at one of their stations, but tracking isn't showing which one exactly. I'm going to call them to find out the exact location and then post that to PayPal. Certainly the buyer could have done this, as I would if it were my package, but I won't argue with that one.

Good question. Normally, I wouldn't mind, but this was a low value item and the shipping costs were half of the price, so I'd rather not hold the bag on it.

    (Quoting myself for future readers)

Follow-up on this: I called Hermes Paket Service that confirmed that they had used DPD to do the delivery. They gave me the DPD tracking info and the exact station it was. I uploaded that information to PayPal and within two hours the buyer had confirmed that he needs to pick it up, closed the case, picked it up, and left positive feedback.

    Thanks Spoo!

I sold a jacket and seller wanted to return it because he claimed item didn't match description. I missed the email where he sent me his own pictures of the jacket and he subsequently opened a case. What does it mean when ebay settles a case with this message:

They held the refund funds in my paypal account and released it back once case was settled. Does it mean ebay has personally reimbursed him or they're leaving it up to me to reimburse him or not?
