Just picked up a pea coat today. It's a crappy wool/nylon blend feels like sandpaper and is thin as paper with no warmth whatsoever...

Why did I get it? Fits like a dream, I dont look like im wearing a burlap bag like many other peacoats I tried on. Anyway I don't like the generic anchor buttons and want to get some unique buttons to put on it. Does anyone know any places to get great buttons for pea coats?

Edit: or if you know of any other peacoats with nice buttons and a slim fit that would be very helpful. Yes Ive read the millions of pea coat threads on here already. Or maybe would it be worth it to get a sterlingwear and get it tailored? Would that come out well.

Sorry for the stream of consciousness posting as well.

I bought some bronze shank buttons from www.ascuteasabutton.com for my Sterlingwear coat, and they're faring well so far. It set me back like $30, but they're much more interesting than their plastic anchor forebearers. Another good site is www.mjtrim.com Oh, and Sterlingwear makes a fantastic product. The fit is boxy, so you'll have to get it tailored if your body has any kind of drop (I've got like a 4.5" drop, so my sized-down coat fits me perfectly). But it's just crazy warm and well constructed.

What size are you? I have the Comme des Garcons x H&M coat in 36R if interested.

It's the difference between your chest size and waist size, basically how "triangular" your body is
