Does anyone know a good place to get buttonholes cut in NYC? I know Bhambi does it, but I heard they charge something of like $40 per buttonhole!

I dont need them done by hand, machine is fine. Just picked up a nice Kiton SC on discount and want to get functional buttons cut into the sleeves.

Thx in advance.

Ercole uses a great buttonhole maker, $10/per, handmade.

There's a place on 38th between 7th/8th that has a machine and will cut 8 buttonholes for $10. Sewing the buttons on is extra, like $2/per. I think it's called Jonathan's; it's on the south side of the street, like 50 yards from 8th avenue. The machines are in the back and sometimes there's a wait.

That's a great price for NYC, isn't it? I've a guy here, same price, lovely handwork.
The one compnay that does it by machine charges more.

I love this one woman Ercole has to do buttonholes. They are amazing.

If for some reason you know of someone in Miami that can handle buttonholes I have a SC that desperately needs one added.

Every time I read the title of this thread I think it says 'buttholes' and that the OP isn't looking hard enough.

they can make the buttonholes, but do not set up the cuff to do so.

You are correct. I do not look very hard for buttholes.

I only have one Ercole jacket and some pants, but the buttonholes are mediorce at best: thick thread, wonky keyshole shape, and they seem flat ... perhaps gimp-less. (Not that it bothers me.)

Winston Tailor has someone that makes a great buttonhole ... as good as any I've seen in person.

If you don't know exactly what you're doing, you'd be a brave man to go to Jonathan's or Galaxy. Also, these are machine-made buttonholes, if you care.

+1 for Chipp2; though call ahead to make sure he'll do them.

IIRC $15/hole.
