Does your 3rd buttonhole (topmost) show on your lapel when you button your coat (obviously on the 2nd button)?
This billy reid houndstooth (very fine btw) suit I got is my first 3roll2 suit ever and I noticed the buttonhole shows on the lower lapel and to my eye as I am uneducated, looks slopyy to me. It visibly breaks the clean line of the lapel.
Is this how it is supposed to be? I don't want to remedy it by buttoning the top button of course. Thanks.

All of my suits are 3/2 roll. The button hole shows on most of them.

In my opinion, excepting sack suits, there are very few 3 roll 2 suits around these days. Most of the 3/2s I see are more correctly 3/2 1/2s where the roll ends just below the top button. However, if you look at a 3/2 sack suit you almost always see the top button hole exposed at the bottom of the lapel.

I like it when its a good soft roll, rather than a hard roll to the 2nd button which makes it look like a 2 button with an extra button hole.

I have not encountered this problem before, I don't think there is any rule aginst it. It would bother me too, but I have very particular about what i wear it how it wears on me so there aren't many things that don't bother me these days.

That's part of the charm. If you don't like it, you can always get a 2B or a 2-1/2.
