buttondown shirts

i need help finding slim-fitting buttondown shirt s/s or l/s....i want them in a good color to pair with jeans....i like shirts with embroderies....it can be striped or solid...what could you guys suggest??

Diesel is worth looking into....one of my slimmest buttonfronts is from them, grey/black striped.

Penguin and Ben Sherman have lots of patterned buttonfronts but you have to size down to get a slim fit so if you're normally a small they probably wont be too slim

If you're gonna size down, Lacoste has nice looking buttonfronts...but they seem pretty roomy for the tagged sizes

I have a gstar button down that's super slim. I'm usually a large in most normal sized brands but Gstar's XL sizes are snug on me. That sizing goes for most all of their jackets too.

I have a few Ben Sherman button downs, in checks as Get Smart describes, these are very slim. It is from the Ben Sherman "Vintage" range (what the tag says) I bought them a couple years back.

Old Navy has some slim-fit butttondowns that look good with jeans. Plus, they usually sell for under $20.

On the opposite end of the price spectrum, Steven Alan, Trovata, and of course Thom Browne make slim button-down collar shirts. Think Band of Ousiders does, too (it would fit their aesthetic), but I can't find one online right now. Dunno about embroidery, but some have interesting details (Steven Alan's shirts have odd seams, and some have the chest pocket inside).

Get Smart, didn't you have friend who was making slim plaid bd collar shirts? Anything happen with that?

Yea, his stock is pretty small right now but here is his website. They are repros of old school Ben Sherman. I agree that a Thom Browne buttondown shirt is probably the slimmest fitting shirt out there, but at $400 it's out of many wallet's range.

Like Phaedrus mentioned, if you get BS buttondowns the "vintage" range fits much better (slimmer) than the normal line, which is really full cut and doesnt have the right details that original Ben Shermans had. But I don't even think they made the "vintage" line anymore.

Yeah, pretty much all the shirts I listed are out of my price range! Seems that slim BD collar shirts are probably easier to acquire now than anytime in the last decade, though, no?

There's definitely more options since slim is "in", but slim buttonfront with normal collars is gonna be easier to find than a slim buttondown collar shirt

Even Brooks Brothers has a "slimfit" buttondown, tho I wonder what their definition of 'slim' is.

The Ben Sherman shirt I described is a button down collar short sleeve, and definately not expensive.
