Button-down shirts that don't button down all the way

I recently bought a Hickey OCBD that confuses the hell out of me.

The bottom of the shirt, where the 7th button ought to be, comes together as a single stretch of cloth. It's not stitched together ... it's one piece of fabric. In order to put the shirt on, you have to pull it over your head like a polo and then button up the 6 remaining buttons. It's also a ***** to iron.

Has anyone else seen this before? Is there a name for this type of shirt design? And does the "sealed" bottom serve some kind of purpose, like helping the shirt stay tucked?

It sounds like a pullover but they usually only have four buttons. Post a photo.

I don't have a digital camera, but you nailed it. The pullover you posted is similar to the Hickey shirt I'm talking about; the only difference is that the Hickey shirt has 6 buttons instead of 4, such that when all are buttoned and the shirt is tucked into your pants, it looks like any other button-down shirt.

What is the point of a pullover shirt? Is it an old-school look? Or does the pullover aspect provide a function I'm not aware of?

It is a great casual look, as demonstrated by the picture posted by Tomasso.
