This morning I sent back my $269 LARGE 9's and was elated to discover they'd dropped again to $189 when I went to order the 8.5's tonight. Glad I waited a few days. Few sizes left; very high quality boot for less than two bills.

Are these fitting 1/2 size too large from your usual size?

I'm usually a 9.5 in most shoes and sneakers and 9 in most boots. These were really large in the 9, so I went to 8.5. Some people have even gone down a size and a half if they like their boots to fit tightly. I expect the 8.5's to have a bit of extra room, but once I add insoles they'll be perfect.

How durable are these likely to be?

The craftsmanship is pretty solid, although I'd think the leather itself might be slightly less durable than the black leather ones. This is my first pair of suede boots so I can't say with certainty.
