Hi, I am looking for good all in one business textbook. I know that it takes more than reading one book to start understanding business but a good textbook is good starting place.
Recently I discovered in my library great book "Understanding Business" written by William G Nickels et al. It was it's old, polish edition (1995) and it was great reading. I decided to buy one, and so I checked ebay, amazon and so on. What is pretty strange for me about this book (although it's very good for beginners) , is that there is almost every year new edition printed. It doesnt make sense to me, core of business education stays the same, and changing few pages to create new edition is just using opportunity to get more money in my opinion. Moreover there are two "types" of these editions: for US based students and international. So I decided, that I will not buy that book but look for something else.
And here is my question: can you reccomend some good introductory business textbook. I want to get some business basics for my personal purposes, and maybe some day professional career or starting my own company. I need good textbook that will give me the basic knowledge, will be affordable (and if it's possible available in loose leaf edition, but that's secondary condition). Currently I' m developing my skills and knowledge by using iTunes lecteures, so if you can reccomend anything else I will be gratefull for writing your opinion.

Thank you, I am sure that some parts of what I read on this page will be useful. But I need something pre-mba. I do not have much work experience, and I am not studying economics or management or anything like that. So I need something to start my "from zero to hero" road, gaing theoretical knowledge that I will be able to use during intenships, first job etc. So thanks once again, and I am waiting for more suggestions.
