Business casual type shoes

For a business casual shoe which would you choose? Other thoughts? This or this?

I like the first one by a long shot. Although I would look for it in a brown rather than black. Biz casual is hard to pull off for me if I'm wearing black shoes.

While the definition of business casual differs somewhat from place to place, the second shoe, with its wide sole, is definitely more "mod" than business casual. I'd say the second one is more appropriate for after work or weekends. On the other hand, I suppose someone who is young and/or low on the corporate totem pole might not raise eyebrows wearing the second one.

Houston: I like the first ones for their versatility.  I have a pair that look quite similar, and I think they look great with either pants and a collared shirt or a suit and tie.  Personally, I'm not a fan of the more traditional formal shoe.  I like the toe a bit more rounded and think captoes and wingtips are old man -- my humble opinion.  In the pic, it looks like these shoes are shiny patent leather, which means they might not work with jeans or more casual pants like chinos.
