Business Casual--Best Looking/Fitting Options?

I work in a company with a business casual dress code, so my options are pretty open for clothing styles.

I've been getting dress shirts from lands end and dockers from macys without putting much thought into it. I'm a younger guy in my late 20's, so I'd like something a little more contemporary, and clothes that fit a bit better, while still fitting into a business environment. I'd also prefer not to break the bank with my purchases.

What brands do you recommend?

Everyone is going to yell at you for not using search to find existing business casual threads (I did the same). I would try j.crew for the Bowery pants. Even gap has a newer tailored khaki that is more slim and dressy. West that with a slimmer shirt such as Brooks brothers extra slim fit (not sure your body type) and get them on sale for about $40. They are high quality and good for tucking in. I find all my j crew shirts can be a bit short. Also consider a good starter shoe such as Allen Edmonds or something found at nordstrom rack, off 5th, or Neiman last call. The other items to get are a nice fitting sport coat and maybe some bright colored fun socks. I basically just described my bauiness casual wardrobe but it was done on a budget and I feel it is much nicer than the average mindless baggy polo and pleated khaki everyone else wears. Also don't be afraid of a nice loafer that can be worn with loafer socks for an elegant look in the summer. I hope that helps.

Take the **** you currently own to a tailor and make it fit you (i.e. get it slimmed/tapered), as long as it fits in the shoulders (end of seam = end of shoulder). By "fit" i mean it follows the line of your body without it being tight.

Wear nice shoes. Spend most of your money on these.

If you can wear jeans wear some nice slim raw denim.

f you can wear ties wear some that match the other stuff you're wearing.

business casual sucks.
