Burgundy suits, yea or nay?

I'm eying a burgundy colored suit that I saw on sale for a very cheap price. I already have staple colored suits (Navy, Brown, Gray w/ pinstripes to be exact), and I'm thinking about adding this to my wardrobe. I know Burgundy isn't exactly a conservative color for suits and seems pretty rare, at least in my area.

I have slightly tanned skin (mostly Portuguese ethnicity), would that skin tone clash with burgundy or be accented by it? I think it would look very stylish, and even if it doesn't look right, it's being sold at a price where I think I could flip it for a profit.


What I'm getting at is what are your thoughts on Burgundy colored suits?

If you want to wear a burgundy suit, you need to answer a very simple question first:

"Am I a pimp, a Dick Tracy character, or Liberace?"

If the answer is no, I suspect that it will not be as versatile a look as you might expect. Good for clubbing, but not much else.

Nothing wrong with burgundy as either a suit or a blazer. I like them both though I'd prefer a more classic cut. Not something I'd wear to work on Wall Street, mind, but for clubbing on Friday or Saturday night? Just the ticket.

And to plei89, looking like Tintin or Morrisey is not a bad thing. It is actually a good thing. You carry the color well, which surprised the heck out of me.
