Title says it all. They would be paired with a charcoal suit and gray plaid pants, as well as jeans (I know I know...). Which color would be better?

As for the combinations, both colors are equally fine. It's 100% up to you. Personally I like burgundy very much, I usually find it more attractive than dark brown. Not the least it looks fantastic with pale pink socks.

I would go for Burgundy personally as I have burgundy on rotation. Charcoal if it is on the dark usually goes with black shoes. Burgundy is just one of those great colors that matches with almost anything including charcoal. Is dark brown and burgundy equal. Not really. Burgundy has the browns, purples and reds hues and looks great in the sun light.

+1 on all that. When I wrote equal I rather meant that both colors are equally "correct" to wear with those pants suggested by the OP.

I think both would work just fine, but I prefer burgundy myself.

Thank you fellas! I was leaning toward burgundy but didn't want to commit a fashion faux pas!

Burgundy all the way. It's a favourite of mine and as others have said, extremely versatile.

Another vote for Burgundy. Lots of people have cheap brown shoes...not as many have cheap burgundy shoes.

as long as we're on the subject, what colour belt does one wear with burgundy shoes?

And, what's the difference between burgundy and oxblood?

dark brownish-red color is an oxblood color
burgundy is dark purpleish red

It is hard to tell the difference in a room but in sunlight you might be able to.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
