Burgundy jacket: what can I wear with it in casual setting?

I have a burgundy sports jacket that looks much more “red” in sunlight but kind of “brown” in darkness. What can I wear with it in a casual setting such as a very important dinner party where dress code is “dressy casual”. I was thinking of black jeans, black shirt, handkerchief and black single monks. Thank you in advance for advice and wisdom.

I think that would look horrible.

If it's a very important dinner party as you say, I'm not sure the jacket pictured is a great option. That's a tough jacket to pair and tough to pull off. If it were simply a casual outing, then who cares? If you don't have another blazer then white shirt (no kerchief) and dark grey or navy blue pants

Trying to stay away from blue and gray but sometimes it’s simply the best option. Wearing clashing pants with a burgundy sports coat will simply convey the wrong impression. However I do like the attached combination. Thank you.
