So I recently acquired 2 pairs of burgundy shoes and also got each Burgundy wax from AE and Oxblood from Kiwi. I purchased 2 waxes to make a comparison, to see which is closer to shoe color.
Contrary to people's saying that Kiwi's Oxblood is in fact Burgundy, these two are surprisingly different to my eyes.
AE Burgundy almost looks Black but when you touch your finger, you will see strong BROWN, whereas KIWI's obviously has abundant Red hue. So I ended up using AE Burgundy for Grenson's Bedford Wingtip (Left) and Kiwi's for AE McClain Wingtip (right). The reason I use Kiwi wax on AE shoes were because they seem to have red hues.
In fact, although these two show quite different on fingers, Not really on shoes. Maybe because it's night time?
Let me know what you think and how you deal with these century-old Burgundy/Oxblood question.
