Burberry Trenchcoat Won't Stay Waterproof?

I bought a nice Burberry trench/raincoat myself last year. The last place I'd wear it is in the rain. Or in a trench for that matter.

I just know it'll perform poorly in the wet

So is my Barbour made out of wax? or cotton?

The question was whether the cotton can be waterproof. I gave you one example of a thing made out of cotton and yet waterproof. No one said that the cotton can not rubberized or waxed.
